In "Manhood 5K" filmmaker Isaiah Miles embarks on a personal exploration of the qualities a young man needs to develop in order to become a "real" man. A member of the school track team, Isaiah uses a race as a metaphor for his transition into manhood.
This was the first time that Issa had used computer software as an integral part of the work he was creating, using photoshop to explore ways in which to blur the concrete and fantasy in his piece which explores flying.
We are exploring the maori creation myth and this is the third work in a series of visual artworks around those myths. Studying the story and creating new media based on it helps keep these stories, which are part of our heritage, alive.
